    By Maria Parker

Child development specialists contend that kids in kindergarten have highly imaginative, engaging and active minds. The mind readily creates images with the memory being very sticky. The flip side is a mind that gets easily bored. It is therefore important to have appropriate beginning readers for kindergarten. The characters must be captivating and memorable with stories that children can relate with.

I Spy Fly Guy is the work of Arnold Ted. It features a story of Fly Guy and Buzz who are enjoying their usual round of hide and seek. Fly Guy hides at the garbage can and is taken away by the garbage truck. It is upon Buzz to rescue him. It features comical illustrations that will leave your kids in stitches. It contains deliberately short chapters that develop the ability of your children to concentrate.

Wedgieman, A Hero is Born exemplifies what children should engage with at the tender age. The author, Charise Harper combines exciting illustrations and humor in his narration of how Veggieman ends up being Wedgieman. It targets children who resist vegetables whenever they are placed in front of them. Though lengthy, the title has sufficient resources for the child to learn.

Jane Connor is the author behind Fancy Nancy and the Delectable Cupcakes. Nancy is doing fine with her baking event. However, her pet, a dog named Frenchy is planning a surprise for her. The dog apparently loves her cupcakes too and decides to have a bite. This changes the narrative all together. It is a combination of humor and repetition that will prove exciting to children.

Tales For Very Picky Eaters is meant for children who find it difficult to have their meals. The plot is very interesting and will compel such children to forthwith clear vegetables from their plates. James is used to feeding out of threats. However, by the end of the story, he clears the plate and goes for more from the bowl. The vocabulary and deliberate use of short chapters makes this an amazing read for the young minds.

We Are In A Book is the product of a creative author called Mo Willems. It is written with the literary appreciation of children in mind. The title is funny and admirably engaging. It is also meant to teach children about print awareness using very measured words. The funny approach to the story guarantees that your child will read it over and over.

A good title for kindergarten minds is one that perfects simple style and appropriate language. The preferred style of presentation is repetition which makes it easier to understand. It is also exciting with characters or scenarios that are easy to decode. Characters should be outstandingly captivating. The more memorable these characters are, the better. Avoid focusing on the story line because it is of little concern to children.

Kids require as much reading as possible. However, repetition gives the child a better chance to understand and engage with the characters. This is the surest path to gaining confidence. It creates a desire to read which will play a huge role in success in school. Short chapters make such books easier to handle.
