A Guide For Beginning Readers For Kindergarten

    By Christine Evans

Most kids begin reading at a very young age, probably younger than most of us may expect. At this age they easily pick up and memorize words which they may have frequently seen. During this process it is important for their guardians to give them the correct tools to guide them to become effortless readers. For beginning readers for kindergarten, this is important step as this greatly boosts their confidence.

A few tips that a tutor can utilize to accomplish this noble course includes; begin by using sight words. Sight words are words which a child can actually read on sight. A child can be given the sight card using sight word flash cards. Such cards can be personalized further to make them appealing to the children.

It is important for the tutor to focus more on the phonetics contained in a word rather than the letters in the words. This is beneficial as it aids in pronunciation. It also helps a child to read much faster words which they are not used to on a daily basis. This step is a thousand times more beneficial than the letters reading as it eliminates the phobia of unfamiliar wording.

Coupled with a lot of practice the child will gradually learn the letter-word-sound awareness. This knowledge will help him/her to learn word families which will facilitate smooth reading and understanding. From this point onwards the kid is ready to start the early reader book series.

In this level the kid can be slowly introduced to the early reader book series. The key to selecting the piece is that it should be captivating or else the kid will get bored and eventually get tired of the process so fast. The tutor has a responsibility to select the appropriate book for the kid. A simple guide is that the book should have repetitive words yet simple format. They should be easily understood. Some of the books recommended include:

Td Arnolds I Spy Fly Guy. The main characters in the book are buzz and fly guy. They are playing hide and seek when a problem arises. Apparently the garbage can in which the fly guy had hid is taken by the garbage collectors. This sets up the storyline to a rescue mission operation. The story is so funny. In addition to that the layout is distinctive and worth noting.

Tales For The Very Picky Eaters is another impeccable book in the kindergarten series. Picky eaters are not the only people who will find the book nostalgic of the good old days. Jamess dad tells an imaginative story to his son for why he should try all foods at his sight. The book has small chapters and it is advisable to read one chapter if the kid is still in mastery stage.

We Are in A Book is another title in the best reader category. The child will be so much into this book, but why should not he/she? The book is witty and engaging. It has a lot of literacy learning fitted in this tiny book. The characters in the book; Elephant and Piggie discover the reader is reading the book. They then take the reader to a journey of their lifetime. This will surely be a hit for your little bookworm.
